Winter

I can’t stop yearning for winter

I miss the electricity in my bones

The way that my lungs fill with splinters

Stripped from the wood

On the porch

At the home that’s not home

I can see the flames in your eyes

The way the twigs snap and shatter

I swear you look like a dream

Even when you’re dressed in goose bumps

Even when your teeth start to chatter

Please won’t you shake me around

So i can fall with the leaves

What’s done with my body

Is up to the trees.

You’ll spread like a wildfire

I’ll spread like disease.
